STICKNATION
I believe people just want to meet other people who are into the same things. And that ‘thing’ can even be a stick. Two friends on a hike found a stick with ‘excellent grain and a nice grip’, and the idea for a community was born.
Stick Nation is a worldwide movement dedicated to describing, reviewing and ranking sticks, yes, sticks, based on size, shape, colour and texture.
What kind of sticks go viral? The inaugural ‘Stick of the Year’ competition was won by an ancient Energy Sword (pictured).
However, the community’s most loved stick is one that a grandfather passed down to his grandson and is embedded with medals and patches from the many trails he had walked.

A SOFT MURMUR
I get distracted easily. Especially when I have to work on something I don't want to.
In theory, YouTube background music playlists are good. In practice, I always get sucked into watching a random video instead of working.Asoftmurmur is a site that does one thing: play ambient sounds that wash away distractions.
A personal project by Gabriel Brady, it has a selection of ambient sounds that you can mix and match to create your own ambient soundtrack.
It only does one thing, but it does it very, very well.
